Lexus LX spied testing, could it be the new flagship?

What looks like a next-gen Lexus LX has been recently spotted testing under heavy camo. Motor1.com believes it is a range-topping LX 600 hidden under a Land Cruiser 300 body (watch the video and compare for yourself).

It is still too early to judge appearances, especially since the test mule seems to have a stock Toyota exterior down to the body outlines and the rear wing. The spindle-shaped grille is nowhere to be seen, either.

Still, an insider reports that the Cruiser sighted the other day carried a brand-new engine designed exclusively for the Lexus LX. The number 600 could be interpreted as a 600cc V8 (bored out to six liters of displacement). Another theory offers that the car could be a hybrid based on the Land Cruiser’s new V6 turbo rated at 415 PS (409 hp / 309 kW).

The premiere should take place either in late 2021 or early 2022. As you have probably heard, multiple Toyota factories had to halt production due to semiconductor shortage, postponing the new Land Cruiser and Lexus LX. The company had originally wanted to unveil it in November, but had to wait another several months.
