Lotus reveals name, price of its new battery hypercar

British car manufacturer Lotus revealed earlier today that its all-electric, AWD hypercar will be called the Lotus Omega. It will celebrate its public premiere in 2019 and enter the market priced at €2,250,000.

According to preliminary data, the vehicle will be driven by several engines jointly capable of 1,000 hp (745 kW). Once fully charged, it will be able to travel at least 400 kilometers (250 miles).

In 2017, Lotus was purchased by the Chinese Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, which had earlier acquired Volvo. New owner should mean more investment opportunities for the company which had troubles finding investors in the past. Shortage of funds was one of the reasons why Lotus had to review its production plans to only include limited series of the Evora, Exige and Elise hypercars.

Aside from the Omega, the company is also working on its first-ever SUV model. Rumors say the luxury off-roader may get a Toyota engine and an aluminum body.
