BBR unveils two engine kits for the Mazda MX-5

BBR, a British tuner of Mazda vehicles, has launched two boost kits for the 2019 MX-5. The mid-engine roadster normally ships with a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder SkyActiv-G engine good for 181 hp (135 kW) and 210 Nm (155 lb×ft) of torque.

The Super 200 kit costs the equivalent of U.S. $1,580 and buys you 202 hp (150 kW) along with 224 Nm (165 lb×ft) of torque. It includes a cold air intake system, a new exhaust manifold made of stainless steel, a K&N air filter, and a StarChip ECU tune.

The other kit is called the BBR Super 220 and costs U.S. $3,680. In addition to the above, it includes better camshafts and valve springs complete with retainers. Once installed, it takes the MX-5 to 221 hp (165 kW) while keeping the peak torque close to 217 Nm (160 lb×ft).

The tuner also offers a selection of exhaust components for the Japanese roadster, including manifolds with catalytic converters. These may also contribute a couple horsepower to the system while improving the engine sound.
