6th-gen Opel Corsa gets new gas and diesel engines in the standard trim

Opel has unveiled the standard trim version of its sixth-generation Corsa hatchback. The car will ship with a revised assortment of gasoline and diesel engines.

The entry-level option is still represented by the old 1.2-liter naturally aspirated gas engine good for 75 horsepower (56 kilowatts). It relies on a five-speed manual transmission to send the power to the wheels. Paying extra gets you a 1.2-liter turbo unit rated at 100 hp (75 kW) and 205 Nm (151 pound-feet) of torque. There is another version of the same engine with higher boost values, specifically 130 hp (97 kW) and 230 Nm (170 lb×ft). Whichever you choose, you will be able to opt for an eight-speed automatic transmission. The 130-hp version accelerates the car 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 8.7 seconds and reaches its limit at 188 km/h (117 mph).

The only available diesel is a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated unit with 102 hp (76 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb×ft) at its disposal.

Opel also unveiled an all-electric variant of the Corsa е hatchback a while ago. With 136 hp (101 kW) and 260 Nm (192 lb×ft) under the hood, it needs 8.1 seconds to conclude the standard sprint. A 50 kWh battery is reportedly enough for 330 kilometers (205 miles) of range, and charging it from zero to 80% only takes half an hour, provided the charging station can supply high-power current.
