Car Tuning

Would you stand your Mercedes S 500 L being treated like a sports car?

Cars like the Mercedes S-Class hardly ever make it to tuners – mostly because the people who buy them are rich, no-nonsense, and often employ private drivers. This makes us all the more intrigued to find out what JMS Fahrzeugteile did with this Mercedes S 500 L.

The executive saloon, which sports an elegant grey paint, now rides on silver-tinted Cor.Speed DeVille wheels measuring 20 inches across. The front wheels are nine inches wide and cost €449 each, while the rear ones are 10.5 inches wide and come with a €479 price tag.

Ten-millimeter (0.2-inch) wheel spacers (€60/1pcs) ensure that the aftermarket rims fill out their arches just as they should. A KW DLC suspension control module (€1599) helps you ride low where you can and raise the car to its stock height with a single push of a button. The maximum lowering amounts to 40 mm (1.6 inches).

The tuned S-Class keeps its standard engine with 388 hp (289 kW) and 530 Nm (391 lb-ft) at the crank, but JMS introduces a performance-oriented exhaust system specifically designed for the model. The stainless-steel exhaust with its quad 80mm (3.1”) end pipes and impressive soundtrack costs €2,800.

Now, the question is, how do you like this ‘sported-up’ Mercedes S 500 L? Would you call it normal, or would you at least suggest a higher-class tuning company for the model?
