Another rare Alpina sedan goes up on sale for $72,000

Bring-a-Trailer has posted an ad for an exclusive BMW Alpina B10 Biturbo, one of only 507 luxury vehicles built with the BMW 5 Series (E34) as the starting point.

The car costs U.S. $72,000, has the chassis number 53, and dates back to precisely thirty years ago. It comes equipped with the 3.4-liter, inline-six BMW engine called M30B35 and benefits from dual Garrett T25 turbos, lightweight pistons, a redesigned distribution shaft, and a new cooling system.

As a result, it no longer produces 208 hp (155 kW), but rather 360 hp (268 kW) and 520 Nm (384 lb-ft) of torque. A five-speed manual Getrag transmission delivers the momentum to the rear axle, accelerating the sedan 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in mere 5.7 seconds and ultimately taking it past the 290 km/h (180 mph) mark.

Compared against the standard E34, the Alpina custom boasts a finely tailored body kit, a rear wing, and 17-inch wheels that immediately set it apart. Inside, there is wooden trim overall and Recaro seats. Premium features include a central lock system, power mirrors and windows, a two-zone HVAC, a cassette player, and an on-board computer.

The car is listed as having around 81,000 kilometers (50,330 miles) under its belt. Its previous owner spent $19,000 restoring it four years ago.
