Haval DaGou gets AWD in China

When Haval premiered its badass-looking DaGou SUV this summer, it landed with a measly 1.5-liter turbo worth 169 PS (167 hp / 124 kW) and front-wheel drive. Today, an AWD version was announced that should actually make the crossover drivable on terrain.

The new spec packs a 2.0-liter, 4N20 Series turbo-four mill rated at 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW) and 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) of torque. A seven-speed DCT sends the momentum to all four wheels through a fifth-gen Haldex coupling, and, unexpectedly enough, a controlled-slip differential is present as well. The drive mode knob switches between Snow, Sand and Dirt.

Sales of the DaGou AWD will begin in China in early 2021. In the meantime, customers can buy the Pastoral Dog trim with assorted special décor and a radiator grille with two strips instead of three, put inside a larger-than-usual frame.

The special edition will come out in 1,699 units priced from U.S. $24,700. The FWD spec should ship priced between $18,000 and $22,000. Chances of Haval bringing its DaGou to other markets seem low.
