Kia Ceed goes electrified in Europe

Kia has expanded the engine range of its Ceed model in the Old World countries, complementing it with the new 1.5 T-GDi Smartstream available in gasoline and hybrid forms.

The turbo mill itself produces 160 PS (158 hp / 118 kW) and 235 Nm (173 lb-ft) of torque. It can be obtained with the hatchback, estate/wagon, SUV and Shooting Brake versions of the Ceed. It comes to phase out the old 1.4-liter T-GDi engine and can be paired with a 7-speed DCT, a manual gearbox or an iMT.

The five-door hatchback equipped with the new engine and manual gearbox needs 8.4 seconds to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) from standstill. Dual-clutch transmission takes it there in 8.6 seconds, and the other body styles launch a bit slower than that.

Additionally, there is a new mild-hybrid T-GDi 1.0 system rated for 120 PS (118 hp / 88 kW) that you can obtain with the hatchback and wagon-shaped Ceed.
