GM envisions future of transportation through air drones and land pods

At the 2021 Consumer Electronics Show, which is being held online this year, the U.S.-based automotive corporation revealed its take on the future personal means of transportation.

According to a General Motors representative, people will need two different types of vehicles in the future: one for flights and the other one for driving on land. A self-driving shuttle bus with a pod-like cabin lends itself well to the latter goal, lifting its entire side panel to let everyone get in and out with comfort.

Inside the taxi are a sensor-packed round sofa, a giant curved display at the front end, and a biometric analysis system on board used to deliver personalized content to all recognized passengers.

As for the aerial drone, it is envisioned as a one-person vehicle capable of flying at 90 km/h (56 miles per hour) in a straight line.
