New Subaru BRZ STI celebrates its debut live

Following the first photos of the second-gen Subaru BRZ coupe outfitted with parts by Subaru Tecnica International (STI), the car has now officially hit the spotlight.

Included in the customization package are a front splitter, side skirts, a rear diffuser, a rear wing, Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires sized 215/40 R18, multi-spoke wheels with a gold finish, a stainless-steel exhaust system with its own sound profile, body reinforcements, and assorted interior décor.

The new BRZ STI also benefits from a few minor platform improvements, but keeps its front longitudinal engine layout and rear-wheel drive system intact. The powertrain stays stock, which means that a 2.4-liter flat-four engine rated at 235 PS (232 hp / 173 kW) and 250 Nm (183 lb-ft) still drives the wheels through a six-speed transmission (you choose manual or automatic).

The left-hand-drive Subaru BRZ went into the second generation last November, while its RHD counterpart only debuted a month ago. Like before, all Subaru cars share their engines with technically similar Toyotas.
