2022 VW Tiguan for China gains updated cabin

Two months after the announcement, Volkswagen has unveiled its facelifted Tiguan for China at the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Auto Expo. The exterior styling matches that of the international version, but the cabin is special.

The global-spec 2022 Tiguan (see video) keeps its cabin largely stock, unless you care to notice touch-based HVAC controls and steering wheel buttons (top trim only). The Chinese version is markedly different and looks more like something you would find in the latest-gen VW cars.

The touchscreen display and the central air blowers have traded spaces, and the side vents are new – notice how the right one is integrated into the dash panel cover. The center display measures 12 inches across, a step up from the maximum of 9.2 inches offered outside of China. Voice control is also supported.

Customers in China can also opt for a stretched Tiguan L or a coupe-SUV Tiguan X. Both have 2,791 mm (9.16 feet) between the axles. Interestingly, the X model was introduced last year with revised exterior styling, but an old interior.
