Walkinshaw-tuned VW Amarok isn’t afraid of backcountry

While Volkswagen is preparing to refresh its long-lived Amarok pickup line, the Australia branch has teamed up with Walkinshaw to accessorize the current generation for heavy off-road use.

The new special edition is called the W580X, and picks up where the W580 left off (the titular photo shows the new X variant, while the rest of the gallery and the video here depict the older W580). Modifications include a bump in ride height, some underbody protection, new shock absorbers, and 18-inch forged wheels shod in all-terrain tires.

Powering the truck is a 3.0-liter V6 turbo capable of 258 PS (254 hp / 190 kW) and 428 Nm (316 lb-ft) of torque. An eight-speed A/T drives all four wheels.

As should be expected from a limited edition, the Amarok W580X comes pre-loaded with most factory options, including bi-Xenon headlamps, LED DRLs, a two-zone HVAC, heated seats, velour upholstery, and weather-resistant mats.
