Mercedes-Benz EQE debuts, due in showrooms in early 2022

Mercedes-Benz now has a worthy rival to the Porsche Taycan, Tesla Model S, Audi e-tron GT, BMW i4, and Lucid Air on its lineup. Here is what it looks like.

The EQE is an all-electric sedan sharing the platform with the EQS. Only one specification, named the EQE 350, has debuted so far. It uses a single electric motor rated at 292 PS (288 hp / 215 kW) and 530 Nm (391 lb-ft) of torque, and needs 5.6 seconds to get from zero to 97 km/h (60 mph). The top speed is capped at 209 km/h (130 miles per hour). An all-wheel-drive variant will also be available, but it remains to be revealed.

The battery size is 90.6 kilowatt-hours. Rapid charging at a 110-kW station enables owners to replenish 70% of the capacity (from 10 to 80 percent) within 31 minutes. Once fully charged, the car offers 660 km (410 miles) of WLTP-rated range.

The interior comes with separate digital dash and multimedia displays by default, but those willing to pay extra may opt for Hyperscreen, a trio of giant touch-enabled displays covered by a single sheet of glass. Further paid options include four-wheel steering, air suspension, and assorted electronic aids.

The Mercedes-Benz EQE will hit the showroom floors in the United States in early 2022.
