BMW 2002 roadster conversion can be yours for cheap

A one-of-a-kind, street-legal BMW 2002 missing its roof and pillars is up for grabs via eBay in Florida right now. The asking price is $14,500 – about a half of what you’d pay for a well-preserved stock example.

The owner apparently modified the car to participate in the SCCA (Sports Car Club of America). To get rid of the roof in the most decisive manner possible, he designed a robust roll cage and painted it in the same shade of yellow as the body. He also put perforated alloy wheels into the arches and slammed the suspension while he was at it.

The stock single-carb, 100-PS (99-hp / 74-kW) engine remains untouched, so the car isn’t claiming any rewards until someone swaps it to something more decent. It’s in a good condition overall, but the windshield is cracked and some other minor repairs may be needed.
