Renault Logan-based fuel cell car goes live in India

Indian automotive brands KPIT and Mahindra have joined efforts to build the country’s first hydrogen car based on the Mahindra Verito chassis (see video).

The vehicle itself has been licensed from Renault and represents a variant of the popular Renault Logan compact. KPIT designed the fuel cell powertrain for it under the assistance of the national science and industry council. Using bipolar electric discs and proprietary software, the company has created a powertrain rated at 13.6 PS (13.4 hp, or 10 kilowatts).

The concept car comes equipped with a 1.75kg condensed hydrogen tank pressurized to 350 bar. Its range is being reported as 250 kilometers (155 miles) and the top speed as 65 km/h (40 miles per hour).
