Toyota still has faith in diesels, regional Sales Director says

Toyota Australia sales boss Sean Hanley says the company stays committed to the idea of clean diesel engines, even as heavy fossil fuel cars remain on a decline worldwide.

Commenting on the company’s strategy moving forward, he called diesel a “very reliable” type of fuel and confirmed that the company stayed committed to developing diesel engines further. He admitted that some would need to be hybridized.

This fate already befell the Hilux truck facelift. Later on, Toyota envisions larger, more substantial innovations in diesel powertrain technology. The CEO of the world’s biggest automaker has recently revealed that work was already underway on next-generation diesel engines.
