Hennessey rolls out an 862-PS Super Venom Mustang

Hennessey Performance has produced yet another custom Ford Mustang, and one of the craziest yet with 862 PS (850 hp / 634 kW) under the engine deck lid. It’s known as the Super Venom and starts from U.S. $149,950, donor vehicle included.

Working with a standard 5.0-liter Ford Coyote V8, the tuners replaced its fuel pump and injectors, added a sports-grade intake, a high-end supercharger and a custom ECU tune. The torque went up to 881 Nm (650 lb-ft).

Tuned like this, the muscle car snaps off the start line to hit 96.6 km/h (60 mph) in 3.2 seconds – half of a second faster than the latest-and-greatest Mustang Dark Horse. It also runs a quarter-mile in 10.9 seconds – 1.1 seconds faster than the Dark Horse.

Aside from the added thrust, the car features a bespoke body kit called the VenomAero. It comprises a front splitter, side skirts, vented fenders and hood, a rear wing and a deck lid spoiler. According to John Hennessey, the parts aren’t there just for show – they help with the traction and the handling.

Inside, fresh leather/Alcantara trim on the seats, branded floor mats and a dash plaque just about sum up the new additions.

Hennessey will be making 91 units of the kit. The price quoted above is for the Mustang GT base car, but you can order a Dark Horse conversion starting from $163,950.
