Aston Martin has collaborated with Bannenberg & Rowell to create a Vanquish supercar couple known as “Above & Beyond”. The coupe (see video) and the Volante speedster underwent a complete restyling with a marine aesthetic in mind.
According to Dickie Bannenberg, the Creative Director of Bannenberg & Rowell, the ida was to reimagine the cars completely using numerous-yet-subtle design cues – ones you won’t necessarily notice at a glance. These included strategically placed color accents, V-shaped stitching on the seats and leather trim details, and the very approach to the color scheme. The latter is predominantly silver and navy blue, but incorporates white, red and carbon fiber for some extra visual punch.
The driver-side rear view mirror comes adorned with a red pinstripe, while the passenger-side one wears a green one – both references to the marker lights used on larger vessels.
Bannenberg says it took his company and Aston Martin approximately a year to design and produce these two supercars. Both parties actively worked on the styling, with Q by Aston Martin ultimately deciding to keep things understated and ditch certain early sketches that came out “too garish”.
