Chinese automaker BAW has started the production of its affordable new pickup truck named Calorie. The mid-size vehicle starts as low as 60,000 Yuan (8,440 USD).
Buyers can choose between two body designs 5,270 mm and 5,520 mm long, but only the truck bed length is different between the two: the cabin has two seat rows in both versions. The exterior is rather tame-looking with basic stamped wheels, unpainted door handles and halogen headlamps.
A pair of 10.2-inch displays are included in the standard trim along with power adjustments, an AC, two airbags and a reversing camera. Paying for the top trim unlocks an advanced infotainment system with voice command support.
A 2.0-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine powers the truck with 144 PS (142 hp / 106 kW) and 200 Nm (148 lb-ft) of torque. The transmission is manual-only.
