Automaker BMW will be attending this year’s Film Festival in Cannes, France on May 17 with a short film named The Calm. Here is the official trailer starring Uma Turman, Pom Klementieff and a BMW i7 M70 xDrive.
BMW is no novice to the film industry. In 2001–2016, the company produced a series of short movies titled The Hire, which starred Gary Oldman, Marylin Manson and Madonna, among others. Predictably enough, each installment advertised one BMW or another.
This year’s Cannes shoe-in is shaping up to be a spy thriller: two lead actresses play secret agents who must get to Cannes, but encounter mysterious adversaries on the way.
BMW says the score was written by none other than Hans Zimmer (Dune, Interstellar, Lion King). It will also be the company’s first short film that it will be showing on its proprietary 31.3-inch Theatre Screen in-car display.
