R44 Performance seems to have managed to create one of the world’s most powerful M2 models ever. Working together with Tom Wrigley Performance, the tuners came up with a drag strip weapon that may eventually win the title of the fastest BMW on the planet.
For starters, the M2 received an all-wheel-drive system transplant from an M3. The engineers had to spent a lot of time fitting and adjusting it until it finally started working as intended.
The twin turbos were thrown out, and a much bigger single turbo was installed. The whole engine was rebuilt with high-end forged internals, allowing to raise the output to a crazy 1,521 PS (1,500 hp / 1,119 kW). The cooling was upgraded, the chassis ended up with reinforcements, and a brake parachute was added at the back.
The extreme M2 ended up using an eight-speed automatic transmission with launch control. It also received a number of steering, brake and suspension tweaks making it the ultimate drag racer. Carbon-backed seats and six-point safety belts made it into the cabin.
