700-HP Silverado ZR2 finally catches up with the competition

Hennessey Performance has found a way to boost the current Chevrolet Silverado 1500 ZR2 to seven hundred horses – but it will cost you a lot.

Included in the tuning package are a supercharger, an air-to-water intercooler, an ECU remap and other similar upgrades. Once tuned, the stock 6.2-liter GM V8 goes from its standard 426 PS (420 hp / 313 kW) all the way up to 710 PS (700 hp / 522 kW). The torque rises to 830 Nm (611 lb-ft), enabling the truck to sprint from zero to 96.6 km/h (60 mph) in 4.2 seconds.

Aside from the engine, the Texan tuner fiddles with the suspension, replaces both bumpers with stainless-steel aftermarket ones and installs auxiliary lighting for nighttime driving. The hood gets a fully functional carbon-fiber vent for engine cooling, and the new engine soundtrack makes itself known through a performance exhaust system made from stainless steel.

Inside, modifications boil down to some hand-applied headrest embroidery, all-season floor mats with Hennessey logos on them, and a serial number plaque. Speaking of which: only 100 units will be made.

Prices in the United States start just under $140,000. For perspective, a stock Ram 1500 TRX with almost the same output figures will set you back another $40,000. A Ford Raptor R can be had at $26,000 more than this Silverado.
