A forsaken DeLorean DMC-12 was found sitting on a curb in a small town of Mozart, West Virginia, USA this weekend. According to the Reddit community dedicated to identifying rare cars, it had stood there at least since November 2021, but hasn’t really moved anywhere in 2023.
A group of volunteers visited the site and discovered the iconic sports car parked next to a pole near an abandoned house. It was buried in fallen leaves, its tires flat and its rear window blinds full of leaves and dirt. However, despite all odds, the unpainted stainless-steel body looked pristine.
As one would expect, the Redditors went all-out with Back to the Future jokes, with one user pointing out that the car was probably easily salvageable and might make a nice EV.
Back in its era, DeLorean Motor Company produced around 9,000 DMC-12 vehicles. The model really only became popular thanks to the Back to the Future movie trilogy (in the video here). A well-preserved car like this starts around $50,000 in the United States, with certain examples occasionally selling for several times the price.
