Few American sports cars have a reputation as dark as the wild and barely controllable fifth-gen Dodge Viper. Most drivers find it a handful to keep in check even with the stock 450 horsepower under the hood, yet someone though it would be a good idea to ramp up the power to over seven times that number.
Nth Moto carried out the job leaving the cylinders and their headers stock while swapping out pretty much everything else. This included Garrett turbos and MoTeC electronics, and the engine was persuaded to run best on ethanol fuel. As a result, the output rose to an insane 3,300 horsepower – more than a pair of Bugatti Chirons have among them.
The dragster then proceeded to tear down a quarter-mile track in 6.68 seconds, hitting 354 km/h (220 mph) on its way out and setting an absolute record among Vipers. It was weighed earlier that day with the driver inside and was found to weigh 1,780 kilograms (3,926 lbs).
As impressive as the build is, it is not Nth Moto’s first. The tuning company’s portfolio includes another fifth-gen Viper with an intact cabin and cruise control, AC and audio on board. That one weighs even more at 1,873 kilos (4,130 lbs), but still manages to complete its quarter-mile run in 6.9 seconds. As if that weren’t impressive enough, both cars are street-legal.
