After its Beijing show debut this spring, the Dongfeng eπ 008 is now available to buy in China in two flavors – 210 Max (hybrid) and 636 Max (all-electric). The numbers refer to their respective CLTC ranges, and prices for both versions start from 216,600 Yuan, which converts to $29,500.
The Dongfeng eπ 008 is a crossover utility vehicle that’s 5,002 mm long, 1,972 mm wide and 1,732 mm tall with 3,025 mm between the axles. A single electric motor with 272 PS (268 hp / 200 kW) and 340 Nm (251 lb-ft) of torque drives the rear axle in both specs. The hybrid additionally gets a 1.5-liter petrol engine with 147 PS (145 hp / 108 kW), but it serves exclusively as a power generator for the 34.32-kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery pack on board.
With the gas tank full, the hybrid has around 1,300 km (807 miles) of range. The EV uses a bigger 82.28-kWh battery array and has a small frunk, but lacks AWD and doesn’t last more than 636 km (395 miles) between charges.
