Jetour X70L registered in China

Jetour has filed a patent application for a new SUV called the X70L in China, AutoHome.cn reports. Although described simply as a “second-generation Jetour X70”, the car is actually a gas-powered version of the hybrid Jetour Shanhai L7 Plus (see video).

As such, it has little to do with the original X70, whether in terms of the appearance or the powertrain. It looks virtually identical to the Shanhai L7 Plus except for a more traditional-looking front grille, a revised front bumper and visible tailpipes at the back. The overall outlines stay the same, as do the angular headlights and the n-shaped taillight unit.

The whole SUV measures 4,810 mm long, 1,930 mm wide and 1,705 mm tall with a wheelbase spanning 2,820 mm. Wheels come in 19- and 20-inch sizes, and the interior can be optioned with either five or seven seats. The former option has a curb weight of 1,654 kilograms and the latter weighs 1,727 kilos.

The only engine mentioned in the application is a 1.5-liter turbo rated at 184 PS (181 hp / 136 kW). The top speed is capped at 180 km/h (112 mph) in this version. Jetour also has a 2.0-liter turbo four-pot with 254 PS (251 hp / 185 kW) on its current lineup, so it may become available for the X70L someday in the future.
