With some backing from Stellantis, Chinese automaker Leapmotor expects to become a major player on the EU car market soon. To make sure it has offers covering a variety of price segments, it has designed a particularly hot version of the domestic Lafa 5 hatchback.
Photos of the electric car called the Lafa 5 Ultra were posted online by Cao Li, one of the executives at Leapmotor. Compared to the standard model, the Ultra version features an added front splitter, tinted headlights and taillights, and a forked roof spoiler. It also rides on new 19-inch wheels.
The interior remains to be shown, but autohome.cn believes it will receive the same sporty treatment as the exterior. In his post, Cao Li mentioned “excellent handling on winding mountain roads,” so suspension upgrades are also coming. Last but not least, while the regular Lafa 5 makes do with a single 215-PS (212-hp / 158-kW) electric motor, it makes sense for the Ultra version to have two such motors driving all four wheels.
We should learn more during the reveal event scheduled for Friday, November 28, 2025. Sales in China will start next spring.
