Study finds the most reliable car brands of 2022

J.D. Power has published another one of its annual rankings dedicated to the brands considered the least and the most reliable according to car owners.

A team of experts has polled the owners of three-year-old and newer cars in a study comprising nine sections and 184 questions. Among other things, the respondents were asked to share their experiences regarding engine failures, suspension issues, infotainment system glitches and more.

For 2022, Lexus came out on top of the whole rating while simultaneously leading the Premium Brand category. Genesis and Cadillac trailed it not long behind, and BMW rounded off the top-4 car marques with fewer-than-average reliability complaints industrywide.

In the mass market department, the top-5 list included Kia, Built, Chevrolet, Mitsubishi and Toyota, with the Korean automaker staying in the top position for the third consecutive year.

Companies like Porsche and Mercedes-Benz mostly dropped to the bottom half of the list, which was rounded off by Audi, Lincoln and Land Rover this time around. Ram was able to make a breakthrough and rise the highest year-to-year, but it still only ended up at the 17th place.

Speaking of individual cars, the highest praise went to the Lexus RX (see video) and the Toyota C-HR. Both were considered about as hassle-free as vehicles get.
