The electric cars made by U.S. startup Lucid may become even more efficient with a new two-speed epicyclic transmission.
The company’s current vehicle lineup features a traditional single-speed reduction gear. Even so, they are considered among the world’s most efficient EVs in terms of power consumption and range.
The automaker says that fine-tuning the operation of the e-motors depending on real-time conditions can squeeze some further efficiency from the drivetrain. It sounds promising, but we will have to wait until we see any specific numbers.
