Limited-run Mitsubishi L200 venture farther off-road than the rest

Mitsubishi has unveiled the Savana, a particularly adventurous version of its L200/Triton truck. It can wade water up to 800 mm (31.25 inches) high and resists wear better than the standard pickup. Only 80 examples will be made and offered exclusively in Brazil.

The regular L200 for the local market is still good for crossing 500 mm (19.5-inch) deep bodies of water, but the Savana fares better thanks to an included snorkel. It also boasts rugged side sills, a matte-black body kit, an expedition rack and 18-inch shod in mud tires. The automaker claims that all new trim details are more resistant to scratches and other damage drivers may encounter off-road.

Meanwhile, the chassis and the engine seem to stay stock. The local Triton ships with a 2.4-liter diesel capable of 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW) and 470 Nm (347 lb-ft) of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission drives all four wheels.

Other than that, the pickup corresponds to the local Katana trim level. Prices start from 350,000 Real, or $65,368 in U.S. currency.
