The Mitsubishi Zinger body-on-frame van came out in 2005, based on the first-gen Pajero Sport chassis. It is being made in Taiwan and sold there under the local badge ‘CMC’. Today, the CMC Zinger has received its latest facelift – the biggest of all so far.
The manufacturer presents the update as a new generation, but it would arguably be improper to call it that. The scope of updates is not that big, and the changes are mostly visual. Starting at the front, the headlights, the grille, the hood and the bumper are all new. The tailgate and taillights have been redesigned, too.
Inside, the dashboard, the steering wheel and the climate control panel have been updated. The instrument cluster is now digital by default. Paying a premium for the assist package gets you adaptive cruise control, lane control, pedestrian detection and emergency braking. For the first time on record, the Zinger is available with seven seats.
The old 2.4-liter naturally aspirated engine with 136 PS (134 hp / 100 kW) is gone, replaced with a modern turbo four-pot making a superior 173 PS (171 hp / 127 kW).
