New Porsche 911 GT3 Touring sings an ode to the feline grace

Porsche has unveiled a limited edition of the 911 GT3 Touring inspired by the Latin American nature, specifically the River Amazon basin. Called the Ocelot Edition, it pays a homage to the indigenous wild cat species named ocelot. Only a handful of such cars will be made.

Porsche’s Sonderwunsch department handled the exterior and interior design this time around, giving the body a spray of Forest Green inspired by the local jungle. Silver inserts here and there are supposed to remind us of Porsche’s earlier vehicles dating back to the 1960s. Even the 21-inch wheels were given the same bi-color treatment.

As for the interior, it received a complete overhaul in tan leather and Pepita textile. The designers say they picked the classic black, white and brown checkered pattern for the seats specifically because it reminded them of ocelot fur. The headrests were embossed with the image of the wild cat as seen on animal warning road signs all over Columbia.

The 911 GT3 officially opens up a new vehicle lineup called Iconos de Latinoamérica, which the German company plans to populate with other exclusive vehicles inspired by that region of the world. Each one will be dedicated to a particular country, with the collection expected to be complete by the 25th anniversary of Porsche Latin America.

The latest Porsche 911 received a GT3 variant last spring. It came equipped with a 4.0-liter flat-six engine capable of 510 PS (503 hp / 375 kW) and 450 Nm (331 lb-ft) of torque. It can go automatic if it must, but the Ocelot pictured here is manual. Opting for the Touring package replaces the rear wing with a modest spoiler and changes the interior trim.
