Renault plans 8+ new car releases outside of Europe until 2027

Renault has shared its lineup expansion plan until the year 2027. It involves releasing as many as eight new vehicles on the company’s new proprietary chassis and several more on a different platform co-designed with Geely for the South Korean market alone.

Implementing these plans will cost the corporation roughly €3 billion. The design will be in line with the recently shown Niagara Concept (see the gallery and the video).

Renault’s new unibody platform enables designing various kinds of vehicles between 4 and 5 meters long (13.1–16.4 feet) with wheelbases ranging from 2.6 to 3 meters (8.53–9.84 feet). The company claims that it supports both traditional ICE powertrains and various hybrid ones, as well as different drive configurations.

The majority of items on the list are crossover SUVs, but the French automaker says a compact van and a pickup truck are in the plans, too. None of them are targeting Europe: the priority markets are South America, North Africa, Turkey and India, where Renault has production capacities.

Aside from that, the company wants to start producing premium D- and E-class vehicles on its new CMA platform co-designed with Geely. These will be designed in an engineering center in Seoul, South Korea, and will go into production in Busan. The first entry in the Renault Korea lineup is slated for debut in 2024.

The automotive corporation hopes that by late 2027, every third vehicle it sells outside of Europe will be either partially or fully electric.
