Tesla’s model lineup in China now includes the stretched Model YL. It has six seats and two electric motors and starts from 339,000 CNY (47,400 USD), AutoHome reports.
On the outside, the car looks pretty much the same as the standard Model Y, just longer. It measures 4,976 mm (194.4 inches) long with 3,040 mm (118.75 inches) between the axles, which is just 150 mm (6 inches) longer than standard. CarNewsChina claims this makes it the most compact six-seater EV on the market.
Inside, all seats are said to be of improved design, and the two rear rows can automatically fold down. Press the button, and you’ve got 2,539 liters (89.6 cubic feet) of luggage space. All passengers have access to USB charging ports, there are cup holders in the back row and extendable armrests in the middle row. Tesla also points out “rerouted climate vents” that should result in improved air circulation.
The transmission tunnel also looks new, as does the trim. The infotainment display now measures 16 inches corner-to-corner instead of 15.4.
Two e-motors rated at 193 PS (190 hp / 142 kW) and 269 PS (265 hp / 198 kW) source their power from an 82-kWh battery pack. The Model YL takes 4.5 seconds to launch from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) and can do 751 km (466 miles) on a charge.
Tesla has yet to reveal whether this model or something similar may appear outside of China.
