Toyota has unveiled the next generation of its Alphard and Vellfire minivans in Japan. You can already grab one as long as you are fine with the particularly deluxe trim version that’s on sale right now. It has separate seats in the second row and starts from ¥5,400,000.
Both vans sport larger radiator grilles than before, and you can tell which one is which by the pattern. The bumpers and the taillights are also different, but otherwise the two vehicles look nearly the same. They also stay the same size as before, but Toyota claims it managed to add some room to the interior, especially the second and the third seat rows.
At the front row, two large displays fulfill the functions of a digital dash and an infotainment screen. The passenger area has a new ceiling-mounted console with air vents, HVAC controls and lights built into it.
In their standard form, both models come equipped with a hybrid powertrain rated at 250 PS (247 hp / 184 kW). It comprises a 2.5-liter IC engine and a CVT. Buyers can choose between FWD and AWD in this version. As an alternative, there is a non-electrified 2.5-liter engine. The Vellfire gets a third option as well – a 2.4-liter turbo. Power, torque and other specifics remain to be announced.
