The ultimate three-pedal Supra Mk4 beats its own records

The Grannas Racing team broke two world records last year when it made its extreme Toyota A80 Supra finish a quarter-mile run in 6.9 seconds and hit 313 km/h (215 mph) at the line. Back then, we did not think any more would be possible; color us surprised!

The team kept perfecting their build called “Orange Man Bad” throughout the year, retrofitting the stock 2JZ mill with a high-end 102mm turbocharger capable of 75 psi boost pressure, among other things. They did not stop there and then, though, and added a nitrous-oxide system to the mix. The result was an engine that could rev up to 10,800 RPM and a drivetrain that slammed the rear wheels with all of 2,100 horsepower (1,550+ kilowatts).

During the test runs, the Supra popped wheelies every now and then, but still managed to devour the distance in 6.84 seconds and hit 344 km/h (213 mph) towards the finish.

This is not even the end of this story, because the team is now planning on reducing that time to 6.7 seconds. We’ll be looking forward to it, that’s for sure!
