1st-gen VW Amarok gets some nip-and-tuck in Argentina

The first generation of the Volkswagen Amarok pickup is still on sale in South America, and rather than sending it to its retirement, the company chose to refresh it for the next model year. The production is already underway.

From the front end, the truck looks in line with Volkswagen’s current design language thanks to redesigned headlights, radiator grille and bumper. Black accents and new 20-inch wheels help freshen things up, too.

A peek inside reveals a new 9-inch infotainment system screen. The system itself offers more connectivity options for devices. 14-way adjustable, extra-comfortable seats are available as a paid option. The instrument panel has a small display on it called Safer Tag. It resembles a wristwatch and serves as a part of the ADAS on board, outputting real-time data from the assist systems.

Customers in Argentina will be choosing from the old powertrain options represented by four- and six-cylinder diesels rated between 140–258 PS (138–254 hp; 103–190 kW). The transmission can be either six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic, and while all-wheel drive is included as standard, reduction gear is optional.

Prices in the country start from 38,046,500 Peso.
