Golf 8 GTI runs much livelier with nearly 400 horses driving it

HGP is a German tune-up company renowned for tuning engines, not specific cars. Their latest project targets the Volkswagen TSI 2.0 Gen.4 mill powering the latest Golf GTI Mk.8, as well as the Skoda Octavia RS, the Cupra Leon and other VW Group rides.

In its factory guise, the four-cylinder petrol mill hits the wheels with 245 PS (242 hp / 180 kW). While not exactly bad, it isn’t impressive by modern-era standards, either. An ECU remap, improved air intake system and strengthened transmission clutch fix this deficiency by dialing the power up to 373 PS (368 hp / 274 kW) and the torque to 526 Nm (388 lb-ft). That’s roughly a 50-percent increase over stock!

As a result, the Golf now sprints 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just 5.6 seconds. The tuner says it could do 5.2 s or so if not for the front-wheel drive. More importantly still, it accelerates 100-200 km/h (62-124 mph) in 10.2 seconds, whole 5 seconds faster than stock. The top speed also rises from 250 to a cool 300 km/h (from 155 to 186 mph).

You may need to contact HGP directly to learn how well the upgrade performs in the other cars listed above. The good news is that the price remains the same regardless of the model: €6,400, including installation.
