A new and very sporty-looking vehicle is coming to the Zeekr SUV lineup, ready to share the platform with the range-topping 9X model. Earlier rumors said it would be called 9S, but the company says it’s actually 8X.
The new official video suggests that the novelty aims for a market niche distinctly different from the 9X. It boasts a sleeker, more aerodynamic silhouette with a well-rounded front end and unique c-pillar styling. While the flagship of the lineup was advertised as a deluxe family hauler, the 8X is being unambiguously depicted as a sporty soft-roader for those who enjoy speed and freedom.
All powertrain specs remain to be announced. The 9X is being offered with a hybrid system based on a 2.0-liter petrol engine and makes up to 1,401 PS (1,382 hp / 1,030 kW). It makes sense to expect the 8X to be slightly less powerful, but just that – slightly.
The premiere is expected within the next three months. Once out and about, the local media in China estimate it will cost 400,000–500,000 Yuan (U.S. $57,235–71,545 right now).
