DAMD, a famous Japanese car styling company with a preference for the Suzuki Jimny, has unveiled as many as three new packages for the five-door Nomade version of the compact off-roader.
One of these is unironically called “Little D” and aims to create a semblance with the Land Rover Defender. It comes with new headlights and turn indicators, custom bumpers for both ends and a blacked-out front grille with a green oval logo clearly inspired by the British original.
Another package, Little G, takes after the Mercedes G-Class. Broadly speaking, it features the same scope of modifications, plus new side steps and door trims. For the first time on record, the company also offers a “Traditional” version of the body kit that goes for a more retro-G-Class look. That one gets a distinctly simpler front bumper and different taillights.
Our personal highlight is the Saudade, a kit that makes the Jimny look a bit like the iconic Renault 5. It’s also a completely new offering – at least, we haven’t seen anything like it offered before – and includes cute square headlamps, a compact-sized black grille and a stainless-steel black bumper with a skid plate underneath. The side mirrors are fender-mounted in this version, the arches are widened, and OZ Racing supplies stylish new wheels specifically for this look.
Prices in Japan are another reason for the rest of the world to feel envious. For example, the base Saudade package costs the equivalent of U.S. $2,600 if you don’t need it painted. A set of five wheels, spare included, adds mere $900 to the total.
