MTM has a 480-HP Cupra Ateca kit in the works

Tuner HGP Turbo was among the first to have released a power kit for the Cupra Ateca crossover SUV, squeezing a hefty 480 horsepower (358 kW) out of its drivetrain. Today, another tuner – MTM – said it had a similar upgrade underway.

In fact, owners of the SUV can already contact MTM for two “lighter” tuning kits. The cheapest one raises the performance from the stock 300 hp / 224 kW and 400 Nm / 295 lbft of torque to 350 hp / 261 kW and 450 Nm / 332 lbft. It also enables the car to sprint from zero to one hundred kilometers per hour (62 mph) in 4.8 seconds, representing a reduction of 0.4s from the factory timing.

The other kit pushes the engine to 360 hp / 268 kW and 470 Nm / 347 lbft of torque. The acceleration dynamics stays the same as in the previous example, but the maximum speed goes from 247 km/h (153 mph) to 259 km/h (161 mph).

Both of the currently available upgrades boil down to a simple chip tuning. In the near future, however, MTM will reveal the third and final upgrade that will include new turbochargers, intake, exhaust etc., and bring the output to the desired 480 hp (358 kW).
