Next-gen Acura RSX previewed with all-electric innards

Acura has revealed what its next-generation RSX model will look like when it goes on sale in late 2026. It’s no longer a sports coupe, but a coupe-like SUV running on electricity.

The new RSX will be the company’s first production vehicle to take advantage of Honda’s in-house EV architecture. It is expected to enter production in the second half of 2026. Acura describes the exterior design as “finalized”, so while things may change under the hood over the remaining year, the body should stay as seen here.

On the coupe-SUV spectrum, the new RSX strongly leans towards the coupe aspect with its low-slung, sporty silhouette. The headlights are concealed within triangular front bumper sections, and the brake light is a single LED strip spanning the entire width of the rear end. There is a ducktail spoiler on the tailgate, finished in the same Propulsion Yellow Pearl color as the rest of the body.

The prototype rides on 21-inch wheels and has video cameras for mirrors, but we don’t expect to see these cameras on the production car.

Little is known about the interior right now. Acura promises us a new infotainment system running on a new operating system developed by Honda – the Asimo OS. It will study the driver’s habits and preferences and adapt accordingly. There are no interior photos yet, and the powertrain remains a complete mystery as well.

The first Acura RSX generation was produced between 2001 and 2006. It was an upmarket version of the fourth-gen Honda Integra coupe.
