Will a Pikes Peak-tuned Continental GT3 beat a 600-HP Civic Type R on drag strip?

The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb spawns dozens of unique vehicles every year, modded specifically for that one race. Will an 850-HP Bentley Continental GT3 from the Pikes Peak crowd be able to outrun a Honda Civic Type R tuned for the drag strip? As you can see in the video, it’s complicated.

But first, let us introduce the participants. The Continental GT3 differs from many other similar cars found all around the world. It rocks everything necessary to withstand the winding trails and the thin air of Colorado mountaintops, including a highly specialized body kit. It is not a drag strip tool, but at 850 horsepower and just 1,370 kilograms (3,020 pounds) of weight, it is both more powerful AND lighter than the Civic.

The Civic comes in at 1.5 metric tons (3,300 lbs), churns out 250 horsepower less than its rival does, and lacks an extreme body kit. It does, however, benefit from numerous tweaks that make it sprint like a high-end sports car. The Bentley has a more racer-like dynamics with smoother acceleration.

Watch the whole video with multiple standing and rolling runs to gain valuable insight into the pros and cons of differently built sports cars. To us, there is no single winner between the two.
