United States may be the natural habitat of most Chevy Corvette restomods, but it doesn’t mean that Europe has to miss out. POGEAclassics, a division of the German tuning company Pogea Racing, has rolled out a fantastic C1 Corvette restomod and promises to build another two soon.
The base car here is a first-generation Chevrolet Corvette made in 1958, but the body was significantly modified by cutting and welding it with a newer ‘Vette from 1959. The whole thing was then mounted on a custom chassis designed between SRIII Motorsports and the Munich Technical University. QA1 coilovers were installed for a fully adjustable suspension setup.
The old engine made room for a 6.2-liter GM V8 tuned to deliver 440 PS (434 hp / 324 kW) to the rear wheels by means of a 4AT. To lend the vintage roadster a bit of modern look and feel, it received 19-inch wheels shod in Michelin tires, a sports exhaust system and performance brakes.
As impressive as the project is overall, the cabin trim is still a highlight. It features vivid red leather on the seats with white inserts and chrome accents throughout the interior. We are told this particular shade of red was borrowed from the Lamborghini palette. A digital instrument cluster and a JL Audio head unit plugged into some high-end speakers via a dedicated amp round off the impressive restoration effort.
