Stellantis-owned premium car brand DS Automobiles has unveiled its latest flagship – the all-electric №8. It can sprint 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 5.4 seconds and cover 750 km (466 miles) on a single charge, but not both at once.
The sales will start in mid-2025, DS says, but the specifications are already known. The Number Eight is 4.82 meters long, 1.9 meters with and 1.58 meters tall with 2.9 meters between the axles and 155 mm (6 inches) of ground clearance. Wheels come in sizes ranging from 19 to 21 inches. An optional rear spoiler extends the range by up to 15 km (9.3 miles), and front bumper louvers add another 22.5 km (14 mi).
In its simplest form, the DS №8 is a single-motor electric vehicle with 230 PS (227 hp / 169 kW), 343 Nm (253 lb-ft) and 74 kWh of battery capacity at its disposal. It needs 7.7 seconds for the standard sprint exercise and can cover 572 km (355 miles) on a full charge.
Another 2WD spec benefits from a superior motor with 245 PS (242 hp / 180 kW) and a bigger 97.2-kWh battery pack. This one has the best range mentioned above.
And then there is the costly flagship spec. It uses dual motors to deliver 350 PS (345 hp / 257 kW) and 509 Nm (375 lb-ft) of torque to the axles. The battery is the same, but the range goes down to 686 km (426 miles) due to higher energy consumption. The top speed is capped at 190 km/h (118 mph) in all versions.
All cars come with a boost feature briefly adding around 10% to their output. All three take 27 minutes or so to charge up from a sufficiently high-power outlet.
The prices are pending.
