Data on the next generation of the GAC GS4 crossover has been entered in the database of the Chinese Ministry of Industry and IT. Judging by the photos 1–3 below, the SUV is larger than the previous generation and looks different.
Compared to its predecessor (photos 4–9 and the video below), the new GS4 has a distinct front end with a muscular bumper sporting vertical trims and slim headlights. It also comes with multiple radiator grille pattern options, likely based on the trim level.
At the rear end, the c-pillars and the taillights are new, there is a large spoiler on the tailgate, and the door handles all around are flush with the body. The interior remains a mystery.
Size-wise, the SUV is 4,865 mm long, 1,901 mm wide and 1,690 mm tall with 2,750 mm between the axles. It is thus 140 mm (5.5 inches) longer than the previous generation with 70 mm (2.7 inches) of added wheelbase. For the wheels, customers will be choosing from four size options ranging from 17 to 20 inches.
The old 1.5-liter engine is still there, although the spec sheet suggests a small boost. The old version was rated at 169 PS and 265 Nm; the new one is listed with 177 PS and 270 Nm. The transmission is not specified, but we assume that the old six-speed automatic gearbox may get replaced with a more up-to-date seven-speed DCT.
The availability date remains to be announced.
