The Korean premium automaker has been testing a production vehicle based on the Neolun Concept (see video). Provisionally known as the GV90, it has been spotted outside wearing only light camo and what looks like suicide doors.
Like the Neolun Concept, the SUV features rather smooth and flowing body lines, as well as an impressively large front air intake. It has a well-rounded rear end and a sharp triangular crease where the radiator grille is supposed to be. The Neolun had a wild arrangement of LED stripes there, so we have no idea what the production car will look like. Come to think of it, it may as well end up with a normal-looking grille.
Note also the door handles grouped around the b-pillar: the concept had no handles at all. The rear doors are comfortably wide and appear to be back-hinged, like on the Rolls-Royce Cullinan.
The interior shot seen in the gallery here was made a while ago. It reveals two individual seats in the back row, separated by a wide center console with a built-in touchscreen and a wireless charger pad.
Genesis has yet to reveal any useful information, but we suppose the GV90 may be based on the company’s eM architecture. It represents a reworked version of Hyundai-Kia’s E-GMP platform underpinning the Ioniq 9 and the Kia EV9. If this guess proves true, then it may wind up with the same motors as those two. Or – considering how luxury hybrids are selling much better these days than pure EVs – it may get a petrol-electric system.
