Honda Civic Type R gets its dose of tuning ahead of TAS-2024

The Tokyo Auto Salon kicks off on Friday, and Honda’s in-house tuning specialist Mugen will be attending it with not one but two Civic Type R body kits.

These two images are all we have at this point, but they still provide a decent look at the main modifications. Starting with the car in red, it is called Group A and goes for a moderately aggressive look. It has a carbon-fiber front splitter, shrouds at the sides, low-slung side skirts, and a rear wing. A peek inside the arches reveals new silver-tinted wheels. There is likely a diffuser at the rear end, too, but we’ll have to wait to see it.

The grey car is known as Group B and flaunts an even bolder-looking bumper/splitter combo at the front. It also makes use of a ventilated hood offset in black, gill-like louvers in the front fenders, even bulkier side skirts and the same rear wing as Group A.

Those in the market for either styling package will appreciate to know that Mugen has multiple exhaust system options, a revised steering wheel, bucket seats and assorted carbon-fiber trim bits on the list for the latest Civic Type R.
