Kia Sonet scheduled for August launch

Following the debut of the KIA Sonet Concept at the India Auto Expo in February 2020, the Korean automaker will be launching the production car on Friday, August 7.

The teaser video confirms that at least the front end of the crossover SUV is nearly identical to what its conceptual predecessor had: the radiator grille and the headlamps with LED DRL stripes are the same. The brake lights also appear unchanged.

Car spotters revealed to us the cabin of the production-ready Sonet this spring, exposing ergonomic seats with improved lateral support, an infotainment system with a 10.25-inch display, and vertical air deflectors.

From the technological point of view, the SUV should be identical to the Hyundai Venue and ship with three engines to choose from: a 1.2l non-turbo, a 1.0l turbo and a 1.5l diesel. Transmissions will include five- or six-speed manual and seven-speed DCT.
