Geely’s $5k EV presents interior

Geely’s Livan sub-brand is getting ready to launch a highly affordable electric supermini called Smurf, essentially a rebranded Geely Panda Mini EV.

As we can now see, not only the exterior but also the cabin looks virtually unchanged from the donor vehicle. There’s the usual 9.2-inch digital dash cluster, the 8.0-inch head unit, the same drive mode selector and front power window controls on a raised section between the seats.

The spec sheet mentions air conditioning, Bluetooth audio and a dedicated in-car app that you can use to unlock the doors or the tailgate remotely, among other things. For the trim, customers are choosing from shades called Sakura Pink, Castle Grey and Forest Green.

On the outside, the cartoonish-looking supermini measures 3,100 mm (121 inches) long, 1,585 mm (62 inches) wide and 1,610 mm (63 inches) tall with 2,015 mm (78.7 inches) between the axles. It can be optioned with a twin-tone finish, but the wheel diameter stays at 14 inches.

A single electric motor delivers 40 PS (40 hp / 30 kW) and can accelerate the EV to a top speed of 100 km/h (62 mph). A 17-kWh lithium-ion battery pack runs out of charge in 200 km (124 miles) or so, with a specific CLTC range rating yet to be announced. Once fueled and ready to go, the Livan Smurf weighs 815 kilograms (1,797 pounds).
